The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Atleticos (10-6) in San German on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Capitanes (10-4) 90-85. Arecibo had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Arecibo especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Derrick Walton Jr (185-1995, college: Michigan) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and the former international forward Justin Reyes (193-1995, college: STAC) who added 22 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Nick Perkins (203-1996, college: Buffalo) with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Atleticos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Arecibo keeps a position of league leader. San German lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with six games lost. Arecibo are looking forward to face Aguada (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. San German will play against Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Caguas. Second ranked Criollos (9-5) saved a 1-point victory at home edging top-ranked Vaqueros (11-7) 100-99 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaqueros. The winners were led by American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists and Louis King supported him with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by American Jae Crowder (198-1990, college: Marquette, agency: Shark Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Bayamon. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Criollos have a solid three-game winning streak. Caguas maintains second position with 9-5 record having six points less than leader Arecibo. Defending champion Bayamon still keeps top place with seven games lost. Caguas will play against Santurce (#5) at home in the next round. Bayamon will play against Guaynabo (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 12: Ponce won against Santurce on the opponent's court 103-92. Bayamon outscored Manati in a home game 95-70. Aguada was rolled over Carolina on the road 98-69. Guaynabo defeated Manati on its own court 108-90.



Santurce - Ponce 92-103

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Cangrejeros' (6-9) home loss to fifth ranked Leones (7-9) 92-103 on Saturday. Ponce shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jalen Crutcher (187-1999, college: Dayton) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The other American import power forward Brady Manek (206-1998, college: UNC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Jordan Howard (180-1996, college: Cent Arkansas) who recorded 19 points and 4 assists and the former international Isaiah Pineiro (201-1995, college: San Diego) added 14 points respectively. Four Ponce and five Santurce players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Australian forward Xavier Cooks (203-1995, college: Winthrop) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Kendric Davis (183-1999, college: Memphis) who recorded 23 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import Tyler Cook (206-1997, college: Iowa) added 6 points and 4 assists respectively.
